February 27 – March 2nd marked the dates of Mobile World Congress, the largest conference for the mobile industry, which hosted 108,000 attendees from 208 countries and territories in the Mobile World capital – Barcelona.

Kanata North companies showed up at Mobile World Congress, ready to gain leading industry insight and browse the wares from more than 2,300 companies who participated in the 2017 exhibition. Visitors to the conference were able to connect with companies who were creating (or supporting) connected cars, virtual reality, new handsets and ingenious app ideas, 3D printing, privacy protection and backend solutions.

CENGN, a consortium of industry, academic and research leaders dedicated to accelerating the commercialization of next generation communication solutions, attended the conference and shared some exciting insights and an event recap over on their blog.

CENGN sent CEO and President, Ritch Dusome, as well as VP of Marketing and Business Development, Richard Waterhouse, to showcase CENGN and connect with mobile technologists. Here’s what came out of their experience:

The mobile world is currently surrounded by a high degree of growth and opportunity. This conference set out to provide attendees with in-depth coverage of the current and future state of the mobile industry. From the latest in technological developments, next generation services as well as growth strategies, the GSMA made it clear that mobile technology can benefit any industry.

The Mobile World Congress offered CENGN the opportunity to meet with the entire global community of mobile leaders, innovators, and thinkers. CENGN took full advantage of this opportunity to connect with other attendees, providing information about CENGN’s services and how they too can get involved. By gaining valuable knowledge, tons of new connections, and exposure to the latest cutting-edge technology in the mobile world, it’s safe to say that CENGN collected valuable insight and relationships that will be beneficial for years to come!

Jason Flick, from You.i TV, also attended the conference and shared his personal experience over on the You.i blog. His main takeaway was that faster connection speeds were necessary and were something that companies had to think about right now. Here’s a bit more on that:

There’s one topic I can’t shake: faster connection speeds.

As you can imagine, this is music to my ears not only as a user but as a someone who constantly pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in cross-platform video streaming. Nothing kills a premium experience for one our customers’ apps more than a poor connection.

Being able to watch your content, when you want, where you want without draining your wallet is the make or break for many buyers when deciding which carrier to go with. Being known for a quality of service that enhances that user experience will most certainly drive affinity for certain providers, if not loyalty. And that’s good for everyone’s business.

Luckily, after attending MWC and seeing the dedicated efforts to redefine what the mobile experience should be, it’s obvious the user is now in the driver’s seat. That pleases me both personally and professionally.

Edgewater Wireless also attended Mobile World Congress to announce the launch of aera – their 6-band WiFi router. Dragonwave showed off their Harmony Enhanced products in a booth on the tradeshow floor and Skyworks presented their front-end solutions that enable wireless connectivity across mobile devices, infrastructure platforms, the Internet of Things, 5G applications and more.

Finally, Graphite Software exhibited and attended the Mobile World Congress trade show and have posted a summary and highlights document over on their Facebook page. They’ve also recently announced some pretty incredible projects post-MWC, which you can read about here.

Needless to say, Mobile World Congress was truly represented by strong Kanata North companies and has quickly become a must-attend event for any company who is aligned with the mobile or serious tech industries.

We can’t wait to read other conference recaps that come from Kanata North companies! Post yours as a comment below or share it with us in our Facebook Group or on Reddit.
