Driving operational efficiencies, safety, and digital transformation with connected communication solutions

Of all the deployments Teldio Corp.’s multi-purpose software has been tasked with, Shawn O’Reilly, the company’s chief product and technology officer, says its work at a facility to assist troubled youths in the U.S. might just be one of the most interesting use cases.

That’s because “it touches on not just optimization of resources and location of people, but also human safety,” says O’Reilly, who stresses that every second counts in an emergency.

”We do indoor and outdoor tracking, and so in that environment, if someone is in trouble, when they press the emergency button, the video camera in that room immediately turns on and shows on the map where everything is and what’s happening,” he explains. “It also lets the video security system know, so that can be put on its focus of attention to zoom in on. That really helps you shave minutes to seconds off the response.”

It’s just one of many deployments of Teldio’s software, in locations across the world, for a variety of use cases and critical tasks.

‘Thousands of deployments globally’

Teldio is a proven and invaluable partner for coordinating critical operations.

“We are involved in thousands of deployments globally,” explains CEO Peter Kuciak. “The world is filled with critical events. Our software solutions provide an accelerated view into how quickly our customers address those events.”

Teldio’s two-way radio software is also used by a large auto manufacturer to flag plant stoppages that could demand immediate attention and repair.

If an assembly line malfunction occurs with a major robot, for instance, “we understand the location of about 300 to 400 individuals inside each manufacturing facility, and so we’re able to automatically dispatch the closest individuals that know the robot, so they can get it back to an operational state,” explains Kuciak.

Founded in 2008 and part of the Wesley Clover International global ecosystem of companies, Teldio is headquartered in Kanata, with another office in Chantilly, Va. in the U.S.

International recognition for excellence

Teldio is an important strategic partner of Motorola Solutions, Inc., a global market leader in two-way radio technology. “They’re re-selling our solution together with theirs across the globe,” says Kuciak.

The two-way radio business is thriving worldwide, growing at about eight to ten per cent annually. Many industries utilize it on a continuous basis – creating many opportunities for Teldio to grow, he explains.

“We are always looking for complementary solutions that fit into the physical security and public safety market,” says Kuciak. “We have a fantastic channel to market, where innovation is very welcome.”

Teldio’s clients and partners include several well-known companies including SpaceX, Marriott, Fairmont Hotels, 3M, General Electric, and Procter and Gamble, among many others.

KNBA a key enabler for growth

The Kanata North Business Association (KNBA) has been a key partner of Teldio in organizing many local events that help facilitate introductions to both industry and government contacts.

Meeting other business and government leaders through those events enables Teldio to get better, faster, and stronger, says Kuciak. “We can sit down with like-minded individuals that run similar size companies in Kanata North, because we have this thriving community that is being administered by the KNBA.”

Furthermore, he says, “the visibility of some of those events goes way beyond Ottawa and Canada. We have customers and channel partners that look at those events and see the optics of a very thriving Kanata North community.”

“It has been a fantastic collaboration.”
