Hey there, my name is Autumn Morehouse and I’m one of the employees at Centre33. When I first moved back to Kanata 3 years ago, it was as someone very different than when I’d left 10 years prior. I’d come out as a transgender woman, worked hard in the kitchen industry, and found myself at a loss without a lot of community or other queer leaders to look up to. It was then I found Centre33, and it was everything I could have hoped for.
Centre33 is a 2SLGBTQ+ youth service organization, and we deliver a number of programs for both queer and neurodivergent youth. We have a weekly drop in for ages 13 to 17, as well as several other programs for children 12 and under including Alphabet Soup and Rainbow Crew. We operate at 33 Leacock Drive and are always excited to welcome new kids and new volunteers.
Suffice to say, 3 years later and the Centre delivered even better than I could ask for. The friends I’ve made here support and lift me up, and I’ve found my true passion in helping others to express themselves in a way that is authentically themselves. We’ve been through a variety of ups and downs, seen both volunteers and clients come and go; but Centre33 is truly one of the safest, most uplifting spaces I’ve ever had the pleasure of helping to facilitate.
Centre33 is now holding one of our largest celebrations, our Pride Family Picnic on August 22nd. It’s a chance for members of the community to get together and enjoy some of the wonderful community that has been built around Centre33. We would love to see you there.
