Kanata offers its residents a rich blend of cultural and recreational activities to satisfy a variety of tastes.

Arts

Kanata Theatre is a non-profit theatre company that presents plays at the Ron Maslin Playhouse. Kanata Civic Art Gallery is operated and programmed by the Kanata Civic Art Gallery Board of Management in partnership with the City of Ottawa, the gallery exhibits and promotes the sale of original works of art by its members. Kanata Symphony Orchestra is a community based orchestra with volunteer members from across Ottawa and the National Capital region. They play a broad spectrum of music ranging from Classical to Pops.

Sports

Kanata is home to the Ottawa Senators NHL team. The Senators play at the Canadian Tire Centre. A women’s Ottawa Senators team plays at the Bell Sensplex. The annual Bell Capital Cup youth minor amateur ice hockey tournament is held at the Sensplex during the Christmas holiday break. The Kanata Stallions junior team plays at the Kanata Recreational Complex. The West Ottawa Soccer Club is the largest sports club in Kanata and the second largest in the city with close to 4,500 players. The Kanata Rhythmic Gymnastics Club is the largest rhythmic gymnastics club in Ontario. The Ottawa SkyHawks of the NBL will start their inaugural season at Canadian Tire Centre in 2013, before moving to the Ottawa Civic Centre when renovations are complete there.

Recreation Activities

Kanata North is home to many parklands and trails to the delight to walkers, hikers, runners, bikers and nature enthusiasts.  The Beaver Pond, South March Highlands and Stony Swamp and Monk Woods are all popular spots. Kanata North is also home to the brand new Richcraft Recreation complex on Innovation Drive.  The complex is home to swimming pools, gym facilities, soccer field, outdoor basketball courts and other amenities. The Kanata North area also has excellent golf courses, including the renowned links-style 27-hole The Marshes as well as Kanata Lakes, Loch March and others.  Golfing is a highly popular past time with Kanata North workers and residents, and the golf enthusiast will find much to like in Kanata North.
