Where has the time gone? November already?

Hard to believe we are mid-November already.  Time has never flown by as quickly as it has since I started in this position in July.  There never seems to be an end to the work that needs to be done – but luckily I`m enjoying every minute.

Last week I organized a consultation for local businesses to come out and hear first hand what the City has planned for transportation expenditures from now until 2031.  Thank you to all who came out and let us know what your concerns are.  This week we will be busy drafting our concerns to present to the Transportation Committee Friday, November 15th.

We also spoke at the Planning Committee Meeting last Friday, November 8th to oppose a few items presented in the draft Official Plan.  Of particular concern is the limitation on building height to 4 storeys for the Kanata North business parks.  As a result of our submission and presentation, Councillors Hubley and Wilkinson have made a motion asking for an exemption for the Kanata North and South business parks.  Stay tuned for the outcome of this in the next few weeks.

In the next few weeks we will be asking local businesses to complete a short survey.  The survey responses will help us in planning for the upcoming year, and to better understand the needs to local businesses.  Watch for that in the next few weeks.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is happening Nov.18th- 22nd and we will be celebrating by hosting a Keynote Breakfast on Nov.19th 7:30-9am at The Marshes.  Click here for more information and to register.

Later in the month on November 28th, we will be hosting our Annual General Meeting and Networking Event, with Guest Speaker Kent Kirkpatrick.  This is a great opportunity to come out and learn more about what the Kanata North BIA has been up to this year, and more importantly what we will be doing next year!  Click here for more information.

Last but certainly not least, we are looking forward to a fun night December. 9th at the Ottawa Senators game!  We have partnered with the Kanata Chamber of Commerce in hosting the local business community in the largest Suite available, complete with dinner.  Click here for more information.

There is a lot going on this month – but we are never too busy for a visit with our local businesses.  If we haven’t had a chance to meet with you yet – please get in touch.  We’d love to schedule a visit and learn more about your business.
