Amelia Choi, B.Sc., M.Sc. (Computer Science), J.D., is an Intellectual Property (IP) and business lawyer, a registered trademark agent in Canada, and a notary public of Ontario. She is the Founder and President of ChoiTechAndLaw Professional Corporation. She has successfully represented clients before the Canadian Trademark Opposition Board, and has provided extensive litigation support in several pharmaceutical and technology-related patent trials before the Federal Court of Canada. She is often invited to speak at international IP conferences, seminars, and workshops; Canada-China economic & trade investment forums, and law school; and has published several technical and legal papers in various international journals.
Amelia represented Canada in the Presidential Task Force for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and Entrepreneurship at the International Trademark Association (INTA) in 2018. She is part of the INTA Commercialization of Brands Leadership Team, and is the Chair of the INTA Brand Growth Strategies for SMEs. She is also the Chair of the IP Trade Policy Committee of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) which advises our Canadian government on IP-related issues for free trade agreements. She serves as the only IP Expert on the Legal Advisory Board of the China-Canada Technology Exchange Hub, as well as in various other committees of several international and national organizations. She has always been very passionate about building partnership between Canadian municipalities, businesses, and institutions with those in other regions, especially in Asia, and more particularly, China. She has played an instrumental role as the only Canadian IP lawyer in several trade mission delegations to that region, and has successfully fostered bilateral partnership.
Prior to her legal pursuit, Amelia has held numerous senior corporate leadership positions in several Fortune 500 multinational high-tech and information technology companies, and has extensive R&D experience. She has a proven track record of building and leading global multi-disciplinary teams in successfully delivering multi-million dollar cutting edge technologies and end-to-end innovative business solutions.
