The China Factor: Political, Economic and Business Impacts of the Dragon
Everyone realizes that China is no longer simply “rising”. They are now well established as a key influencer of international markets, industries and business dealings. That influence reaches into Canada as a whole, and technology in particular. Our November TechTuesday speaker has studied, taught and lived this reality, and is eager to share some of her perspectives with us.
Amy Karam is a practiced corporate strategy instructor, consultant and author. She delivers courses for Stanford University, and has worked with global technology firms such as Cisco, SAP, Juniper, Apple, VISA, AT&T and many others. This experience has led the Ottawa native to a considerable understanding of, and passion for, the new world order as it relates to global business. In fact she has written a book about it. And her conclusions are clear.
The West is no longer the dominant force in this arena. China has changed many of the rules, and all should care. Companies, industries, economies are implicated. World leaders need to care, business leaders need to care, the man in the street needs to care. With a backdrop of rising protectionist sentiment around the world, we “westerners” need to find ways to maintain and evolve our innovation advantage and remain competitive in the new global marketplace.
Amy will introduce strategies, issues and answers that companies from start-ups to established corporations can use to navigate this changed landscape, protect against imbalance and increase their chances of success in their chosen industries. Strategies such as the “Five P’s” of going to market (no, not 4 like you might have expected), going global fast (something you know we are fans of here at Wesley Clover), partnering for improved efficiency and effectiveness, and more. It will be an insightful presentation, and we hope you can join us …
