Amika Mobile latest innovation turns heads south of the border









From the House of Commons to family dinners with your outspoken uncle, debates about preventing and reacting to terrorism are almost unavoidable in modern life. Kanata-based company, Amika Mobile has joined the conversation with a high-tech answer that is saving lives, and being noticed in the United States.

The US Veteran’s Administration (VA) recently approved the Amika Mobility Server (AMS) for their security. Over the last decade Amika Mobile has delivered ground-breaking innovations in the growing emergency management market.

In critical situations, information, and communication can mean life or death. AMS provides customers with vital information that would be invaluable in desperate circumstances, as well as providing several other lifelines—for example, initiating lockdowns upon detecting a gunshot.

“Keeping people tracked and informed as the crisis unfolds is also critical as they shelter in place, and this is where our 2-way communications on every mobile device be it a phone, tablet, or desktop, is already saving lives,” said Sue Abu-Hakima, Amika Mobile Co-Founder/CEO.

AMS automatically detects a wireline or mobile devices by location. This proves very useful in sports arenas, airports, and campuses—places where stakeholders and visitors must be informed what to do, and where to go in the event of an emergency. Next, AMS detects and manages dynamic sensor events triggered from disparate physical security systems which map out the location, informing users how they can get to safety.

AMS informs users on their mobile devices where the last shots were fired, it also informs users of forced door entry, static or mobile Panic, card access under duress, detected motion from cameras, fire panel events, etc.

Amika Mobile is dramatically changing the way people, and institutions will react to terror, and hopefully making the world a little safer, one mobile device at a time.
